I got some feedback on my Halloween Costume

A coworker said I looked pretty in it.

…wat.

I never get called pretty, so that’s a doubly odd statement  to make about a girl dressed as a Pokémon trainer.

Leaves me with a couple of new career options, though.

She clarified that she thought that red, or the combination of red and white, suited me.  So maybe I should start dressing like a White Stripes album over.

Milkcrate Manga Shelves

I have too much manga so I switched from regular bookshelves to milk crates because I can stack them up higher and fit them into smaller spaces if need be.  As you can see, I got the very trendy 18-inch milkcrates with the stylish diamond-shaped lattice pattern on the bottom.  Each of the milkcrate “shelves” has a piece of cut-to-size foam board resting on it to protect the bottoms of the books.  Oddly enough, this allows the books to stand upright without support on one side.  In other words, it pretty much totally negates the need for bookends.  Plus it looks awesome.

And before anyone asks, no I did not steal the crates.  I bought them through Amazon.  And it was well worth it.

Binder Pages for Copic Markers

I’ve been having a problem lately with keeping track of and organizing art supplies, especially my large and ever-growing collection of pens and markers.  This is especially a problem with my Copic Sketch markers.  I have a 51 of them (yet somehow not nearly enough) and when a single marker retails for $6.99, you do NOT want to lose a single one.  PRO-TIP: Don’t buy Copics at retail.  Buy them on sale or online.  Or on sale online.  Your wallet will cry less.

So I made these:

About one more page of these and I will have corralled my current Copic collection.  This binder has another side of it that I might use for my Prismacolor art markers.  I have even more of those.

Final Arc Megumi and Genzo.  Hell. Yes.

Cheeky Angel isn’t really the most popular series in the world, but it is one of my favorites.   It’s a series that seems really silly most of the way through, and some parts are just silly, but a lot of stuff you might pass off as just random are actually tidbits that lead you up to the final arc.  And that final arc is the most spectacular two volumes of Badassery I have ever seen.  Plus it’s the only manga ending I’ve seen that the author invites you to read the entire series over again.  Which is kind of odd because Nishimori usually writes meandering manga that are more based on character-interaction than actual storyline.

Also it’s a comedy with a bunch of gratuitous gang-fights in it, one of my favorite genres.

You know, already at day four here, I’ve realized why I don’t post or update that often.  One part is that I’m extremely lazy, which is obviously a deterrent, but it’s more that  my blog is more of an Artblog or a Projectblog as opposed to a more text based blog about philosophy or people who piss me off or whatever most blog writers write about.  Basically, I complete a project, snap a picture of it, attempt to add some witty alt text and post it for the world to enjoy if they ever stumble across the site.

Now, I have a shit ton of active projects going on at any given time, but I hardly have the time or energy to work on most of them.  In order to pull this NaBloPoMo thing off, I’d have to complete thirty projects, averaging one a day. So basically, either this challenge was doomed from the get go, or this is going to be the most productive month I have ever had.

Or I could start dipping into stuff I completed a month or so ago like today. >_>;

Halloween Costume and NaBloPoMo

Despite wanting to go as a certain Natural Harmonia Gropius this year, I messed up on the wig and was forced to make a last minute costume this year.

I ended up going as Red.  I made this costume in less than a day, from planning to completion.  Only it’s not exactly complete because it lacks the shoulder-riding Pikachu doll I designed to go with it.  I simply did not have time to make that, despite buying the fleece for it.   Totally going to make it later, though.

Oh, and I’ve decided that I’m going to try participating in National Blog Posting Month.  It’s a big challenge for me because I have a horrible update record.  Let’s see if I can make it all thirty days, ‘kay?  My money is on crapping out on day 3, but I hope I surprise myself.

I Made a Spice Rack

I have a seemingly never ending quest right.  It’s called “Cleaning my apartment and culling the crap I don’t need/want so I can possibly move out at some point” and has been going on for at least four months now.  Actually, more like ten.

Anyway, I made a spice rack to help organize stuff, namely spice.  Oddly, this helps a lot.

I found out how to make it on Instructables.

Today’s challenge is an hanging organizer for my bathroom door.  Still have to figure that one out though.
